Mumps, is a viral infection, that targets the salivary glands and causes fever. This infectious illness is caused by the virus RNA (Rubulavirus) The virus rapidly spreads and causes the throat and lower facial region to drastically swell up. This highly contagious disease not just damagingly attacks the salivary glands but also the Brain, pancreas, ovaries and Testis. The Salivary glands produce saliva, that emits liquid that produces moistens, these moisten the food we consume. These liquids also enable easy chewing and swallowing and are very important.
Mumps is only found to affect human life form and the most common offender is children. The illness has been documented to spread rapidly in late winter and early spring. The name 'Mumps' actually originated a while ago when mumps was also around, the bumps and lumps on the victims faces were originally called mumps. Mumps not only causes large swelling around the neck area but also can result you with brain defects such as dimensia and also swells up areas such as, the pancreas, ovaries and testis.
