How does the body's immune and endocrine system respond to the disease?
The Endocrine and Immune system are responsible for dealing with emotions, feelings and general stresses. Illnesses and virus's affect these systems and in different ways. The Endocrine system is made up of the pancreas, ovaries, testis, pituitary gland, thyroid gland and parathyroid gland. It is also under control of Digestion, Sexual Reproduction, Growth, Repair and Homeostasis which is constant internal balance. When the mumps virus enters the body system after proceeding the incubation period it either attacks the pancreas, ovaries, testis, mumps or salivary glands. The pancreas, ovaries and testicles are all under control of the Endocrine System meaning when the virus lashes out on this system it weakens the victim meaning it would respond by affecting your emotions, for example you may just feel generally unhappy, otherwise known as Malaise. Or you may feel over stressed. In the brain there is a gland called the Pituitary Gland which is in control of remaining the hormones are in place so when the virus reaches the brain it responds by affecting your hormones. The type of hormones that the Pituitary gland release are hormones that help things like growth and thyroid stimulation, when this system is affected it affects the process in which our hormones proceed their job. When a virus enters the human blood stream the immune system's job is to fight against it and try to protect the body so virus and disease doesn't enter the body.
